Our conversation went roughly as follows: Martin the hobo: "Man, you run a restaurant, that's cool". Martin the Swede: "Yea man, I [censored] love cooking man". Martin the hobo: "Yea, I'm not a good chef but what I love to do is just go out and get the freshest ingredients I can find and it's like 'hmm I don't know what I'm going to eat but this fish looks good, and those herbs looked really fresh, and look there's some really nice looking corn over there' and a recipe starts brewing in my head" Martin the Swede: "YEA, [censored] YEA, I love to do that man, for me, life is about 3 things man, drinking, cooking, and licking pussy. Man, I love cooking so much that when I'm licking pussy I'm just thinking 'hmm, I wonder if I could put some Rosemary in there, man!'". Martin the Hobo: "HOHOHOHOHOHO, YOU ARE A VERY FUNNY MAN MR SWEDE!!! I SHALL COME TO YOUR DELICIOUS SOUNDING RESTAURANT". Martin the Swede: Yea, the portion sizes are pretty small but i'm really experimenting with flavours man. Martin the Hobo: Yea, I love to actually sit down and taste the food when I eat it, most people read the newspaper or some [censored], but I like to really taste the food. Martin the Swede: Dude you should come to my [censored] restaurant, you're my perfect customer man, I am one of the best chefs in Sweden and so is my buddy here, and this guy mixes a mad cocktail. Martin the Hobo: I WILL BE THERE TOMORROW! *TOMORROW* Martin the Hobo: [censored] I AM REALLY HUNGOVER. GOD: Owned, or ? THE NEXT DAY: Martin the Hobo: HMM THAT RESTAURANT SOUNDED REALLY GOOD, I THINK I WILL GO THERE EVEN THOUGH I WILL LOOK RETARDED AT A FINE DINING RESTAURANT ON MY OWN. So I go to the restaurant, and it's mega classy Tapa's style place, and I walk in and start talking to Martin the Swede while he's working in the kitchen, which is pretty cool since I get to see the man in action. I sit down and order a drink, recommended to me by him, apparently Jesper, the guy working at the bar made the recipe for the cocktail used in the Absolut Rasberry promotion, so I try this out, and it is both fruity and delicious, though I don't think I could drink two of them. Then I decide to order. The night I was drinking with the Swedes Martin couldn't stop talking about his coffee flavoured duck breast with vanilla foam, so I ordered that, then said 'man, just bring me over what you think is nice and I'll pay later', so I got: Coffee flavoured Duck Breast with Vanilla foam and Pommes Amait Salmon and goatscheese? filled ravioli Garlic Butter seared scallops with Risoni The portion sizes are Tapa's style; the Duck Breast is 4 small slices of meat for example, and the Ravioli is maybe 5 pieces, but the meals were delicious. After I'm finished these three dishes, Martin comes over and says 'so what do you think?'. I describe how I had never eaten meat as tender and juicy as the duck breast, and how the flavour redefined what meat should taste like. It really was delicious. The scallops were small but sweet, and were perfectly contrasted against the saltiness of the Risoni that was served as a side. The ravioli was also good, but I didn't comment on this. Martin's really happy that I like his food and gave specific reasons why, so he asks if I want some more, so I order a Blue Cheese Salad with Figs and some kind of green lettuce with a fancy name, and this proves tasty. He also cooks me up something special he says, which is a kind of Proscutio on toast wrapped around something foreign sounding. It is all tasty, and he says that for a food lover like me, the last two dishes are free, so voila, that was good. I order another drink from the Bartender, this time some kind of weird drink that tastes a bit like a Thai Soup in a glass, it's got chilis and lime and vodka and is definately delicious. The meal was certainly worth while, the staff were incredibly professional, and at the end the cost was very expensive for Thailand but incredibly cheap for elsewhere. Total cost was: 300 Baht for each drink (About $8 USD per drink). 100-140 Baht per Tapa's Dish I left a 10% tip for a total of 1000 Baht for the meal. Måste vara en Sairee Village, där hade dom lite fancy restauranger 100m i vardera riktning från 7/11 och en av dom var med massa tapas och med en svensk kock. Om jag minns rätt ligger den på strandpromenaden där. Men drinkarna var dyra, prova husvagnen 200m till vänster istället! Där finns även chansen/risken att bli bjuden på en fet "cigarett" av en ladyboy. För övrigt bräcker väl restaurangen i taxihörnan på phangan det mesta. Kostar dessutom nästan gratis... Citera
