  1. I am just getting adjusted to reading my own stats. I don't even have enough data on my own play to have it really make sense right now. So it will take me a while to see other people's stats. But my guess right now is that for shorthanded, personally, I won't even bother to check other people's stats. I'd rely more on my own notes and what I remember about the player. Going back to Pokertracker doesn't seem like a good use of time - but that's also because I'll normally have 2 to 4 tables going, so my time is used to go from one table to another. Playing multiple shorthanded tables means I'll lose alot of specific opponent edge, but the combined edge will probably mask the lost of edge at any one table....hope that makes sense. But I've heard there's a software where you can overlay the opponent's stats on the table as you are playing....I still have to check that out...maybe that could be used for what you are asking - I don't know yet.
  2. Yes, I'm starting to do research on it - mainly because I think a shorthanded limit hold'em book should be able to refer to Poker Tracker and point out what the stats mean. I just started using it and it looks like it has a great deal of information. I have figured out how to import hand history from PokerStars and Party Poker, the next step is Ultimate Bet. It looks like there's a separate program to help grab hands for that site.
  3. Thanks for explaining the gambling culture in Sweden. In Taiwan (where I was born, and where I still have many relatives), most people would laugh at the thought of a professional gambler...and relatives would be worried that you will go broke one day. In my family, there have been people who had gambling problems, so its actually a good concern. But as you all know, poker is very much different than other gambling games. I also want to mention that I am just another person. I think I'm a nice guy and I think I am smart, but I don't think I'm above anyone else. I'm hoping you'll never catch me with a superiority complex or an attitude...my wife would be ashamed of me! eurythmech - I love your signature, it made me laugh!
  4. Thanks for the nice comments. I have some questions about Sweden. Are there casinos in Sweden? If so, are they run by the government or private companies? And do they offer poker? What games, what limits? I know in England, they seem to play pot-limit games more than fixed limit games, I'm not sure about other parts of Europe. In America, poker has always been a popular game. Most people learn the ranking of hands and the rules of the some of the games when they are children. People often hold poker games in their homes with their friends. So many people think of it as a social event, and it is not looked down upon as much as other gambling games. Is this the same or different in Sweden? Also, how is gambling viewed as in Sweden? Is it viewed as a bad thing?
  5. Hello, My name is King Yao. I am the author of Weighing the Odds in Hold'em Poker (formerly titled Hold'em Brain). Robert Andersson informed me about this forum, and set up an account for me. For anyone that has read my work, I hope you have enjoyed it. As you can see, I do not understand Swedish, I only understand English. I am happy to respond with any questions, comments or suggestions regarding my book or other issues...but please post or email me in english. If you want to make fun of me, then you can use any other European language, I won't understand it! I will try to visit this forum once in a while. If you want to email me, my email is kingyao@comcast.net. I cannot promise I can answer every question in a timely manner, but I will try. Once the American Football season starts (in mid August), I will have less time to devote to poker and online forums. Also, I see there is a link to the Hold'em Brain pdf file. While I don't have a problem with that, I want to make sure everyone understands that link is based on a much earlier draft. I have made many changes since then, and the book was edited for grammar and other issues to make it more understandable (I am not a writer by profession, just a poker player!). Some ideas were deleted because of confusion, other ideas were inserted to make the book flow better. So my suggestion is to buy the book for the best version! I am also setting up a weblog with posts regarding my gambling activities. I just started it yesterday, so there is not much there, but the URL is weighingtheodds.blogspot.com. Thank you, King Yao * Edit of title - QoS *
