William Thorson must have thought he had the right conditions for a big blind squeeze. He saw John Dolan open for 375,000 and John Racener and Brandon Steven both call in position. Thorson had {j-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds}, not the worst hand in the case of a call. He moved in for about 5.0 million total. Dolan and Steven folded, but Racener did not. He called with a concealed monster, {k-Spades}{k-Diamonds}.
But Thorson and Racener were going to get a sweat after a flop of {2-Hearts}{6-Diamonds}{a-Diamonds} gave Thorson a diamond flush draw. "Black deuce!" called out a spectator on the rail. Sure enough, the turn came {2-Spades}. It was another black card on the river, {5-Clubs}, that sent Thorson home in 22nd place.
After the river came down, Racener immediately pointed up at the spectator on the elevated rail who had called for a black deuce. "That's my boy!" he seemed to say. Then he shook Thorson's hand and collected his chips.
Han hade onekligen kunnat nöja sig men en syn men kände väl att han hade rätt läge för en squeez. Som brädan föll spelar det dock ingen roll. Han hade varit all-in ändå.
