Hehe, Ken is a great writer and funny guy no doubt, unfortunately he is not as good at:
A) Poker
"När jag checkraisade honom med högsta tvåparet bestämde han sig för att syna mig utan drag med en femma hög. Hans plan var tydligen att spela ut mig. Och det gjorde han – på det norska sättet. Två perfekta kort för herr Vilse gjorde att min stack halverades."
This is vs Tore Lagerborg and here is how the pot goes:
Lager has raised preflop and Ken has called, flop J84, Lager bets 300 (with 53o), Ken makes it 1500, Lager calls to bluff. Turn 2, Lager calls a 3k bet from Ken. River 4, Lager moves allin and Ken folds J8 face up. This action may constitute folding top two vs. a tight, predictable player that will always have an overpair here, but not vs Lager.
B) Mathematics
"I en jättepott satte han i stort sett hela sin turneringsexistens på spel genom att syna mig med nio-sju före floppen.
Han hade behövt fyrtio procents vinstchans för att synen skulle vara matematiskt korrekt."
This is vs me and here is the action:
Tight fish makes it 2200 in early position (blinds 400-800), Raymi calls in midpos, I call in SB and Ken moves allin for 10500 in BB with AQ. Tight fish folds, and Raymi folds TT(!)
Now I have to call 8300 to win the 17100 that is already in the middle so I get three times my money on the call. Hardly 42%. What made me even think before calling was the fact that I only had about 20k before the hand started, but I decided I got the right price and was willing to risk having an allin-stack instead of a reraise allin-stack (with hope of making someone fold) in case I lost. So i called with 97dd (yes, I should fold it in SB, but was hoping 4-way action), flop came KT6 so we both flopped gutshots, turn 8 DING, river no J (4) and goodbye Ken.
C) Humility (though Ken without ego is like Man Utd not top of the league, just wrong)
"En av Norges bästa spelare anser sig så underlägsen att han mer än gärna satsar allt om han har cirka en tredjedels vinstchans mot mig."
Since this was the first time ever I was at his table in a tournament and I had won the previous 3 (out of 3) pots we had played against each other, I didn't really feel inferior. 40.17% chance of winning is ok when I get three times my money any time, vs anyone. And Ken, I wasn't allin, you were
You told me you would write about me and I told you I would correct any distortion of the truth.
See you in Monte Carlo m8, Champagne is on me...
Anyway, I love your articles, keep up the good work!
